The M33 is a portable high-resolution digital audio player built around a fully differential 24-bit R2R ladder DAC, developed in-house by FiiO. The discrete resistor-ladder architecture replaces delta-sigma conversion and is implemented in a quad-channel, fully balanced topology using modern precision components. The analog stage employs eight Texas Instruments operational amplifiers, delivering up to 1100 mW per channel at 32 Ω from the 4.4 mm balanced output, while the 3.5 mm single-ended output provides 470 mW per channel.

The player runs Android 13 on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680, with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB internal storage, enabling native third-party streaming apps and smooth library handling. USB audio is managed by a dedicated XMOS XU316 controller with dual femtosecond oscillators, isolating clocking and audio processing from the Android SoC to reduce jitter and digital noise.

DSP features include a 10-band parametric EQ with Auto EQ, All-to-DSD conversion, and SRC bypass. The M33 can also function as a digital transport via coaxial and USB audio outputs.

A physical Desktop Mode switch disables battery limitations when externally powered, allowing sustained high-performance operation. The 4400 mAh battery provides up to 14 hours (3.5 mm) or 12.5 hours (4.4 mm) of playback, with fast charging to full capacity in approximately 1.5 hours.

The chassis weighs 258 g, is slimmer and narrower than the M23, and features a 5.5-inch 18:9 LCD protected by Gorilla Glass 3 with oleophobic coating. Compatibility with the Retro Box accessory enables desktop placement and alternative visual styling.
